     Paul and Christine                       Reg & Margaret                 Sadie and Danny                     Jordan

 

This site is primarily the work of Paul and Christine Sherriff. We live in Newbury, Berkshire, along with our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - Billy. Whilst we are officially ‘empty-nesters’, we often enjoy the company of our children or grandchildren who know there are always spare beds and well-stocked cupboards (not to mention Dad’s cheque book and Cartoon Network). We have 4 grown-up children - Lizzie (married to Martin), Ian, Andrew (married to Hannah), and Stacey, plus 4 wonderful grandchildren – Sadie, Danny, Jordan and our latest addition, Amelia, born in March 2006.

 

With the exception of Andrew, who lives in Caversham with Hannah, we all live in Newbury close to many relatives, including Paul's mother, Margaret. Margaret was married for over 60 years to Reg, who died peacefully in his sleep on 3rd November 2002 aged 86 years. Margaret and Reg are pictured above celebrating their Diamond Wedding Anniversary on 23rd December 2001 having married on 23 December 1941 while Reg was on leave from the Royal Air Force. Paul has lived in Newbury all his life, whereas Christine moved to Newbury in the 1960's from Waterford, Ireland. Although Christine was born in Waterford, most of her family live fairly close by, either in Newbury or in Farnham, Surrey.

 

Paul is Managing Director of a specialised engineering company, Acedes Gear Tools, which is based in Newbury. In his spare time Paul enjoys a game of golf as a member of Donnington Grove Country Club. His handicap was coming down slowly, and is currently 22. Christine is ‘Managing Director’ of ‘Our House’ and does a super job.

 

We both enjoy reading, travelling and eating out. Christine enjoys gardening, while Paul is the computer ‘expert’. We are also avid collectors of all sorts of bits and pieces, notably china or porcelain figures of Cats, Tonbridge Ware, and Victorian Pressed Glass, particularly Slag Glass by Sowerby's of Gateshead.
