London, Eng and from records in Wiltshire, Eng. All the children from
Chrs original Par Records of St Mary's Marl, Wilts.
Chr of the wife from original Par Regs of Potterene, Wilts, Eng

Jane, Edward, William, Samuel and Thomas. Susannah Wife #1 died in 1742. Children 2 & 4 also died."

Jones, Isaac {I21572} (b. 24 FEB 1771, d. 11 JUN 1854)
Note: From: John Pidding Jones book, gives a history of Isaac Jones and Mary Pidding. .
Here's a short quote;
"During the two decades he (Isaac) served in the army, he became very closely associated with his superior officer, Sylvester Frazer, who was of higher rank by several steps.
As he advanced in rank, Isaac likewise advanced, and it was to the credit of this good man and officer that he wrote the letter to the King recommending Isaac for promotion out of the army to that of captain in the state militia of Manchester.
Thereafter he served for some years over the militias of Manchester, England and Cork, Ireland. In 1798, Aaron, youngest brother of Isaac, joined the army; a different regiment than Isaac.
While both men were in Spain and Portugal in the war with Spain, Aaron was killed in battle.
Isaac was saddened and depressed by the death of his brother Aaron. Discouraged with army life, Isaac confided to his friend and superior officer, Captain Frazer, his desires to leave the service.
Immediately, Captian Frazer awakened to the ideas of keeping this good man in the service.
In consultation, Frazer, with his own superior officer, decided upon a promotion in rank for Issac by promoting him out of the army as lietenant and into the militia as captain"

(Note of Jacqueline Leatham) following:
John Pidding Jones, Isaac's son, b. 10 Jun 1819 personally began gathering the genealogy of his family because of his conversion and baptism into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 2 Aug 1846. His brother's and sisters births were scattered because of the affliation of his father with the military.

"It was soon after marriage that they first heard of the gospel.. According to John's diary they heard the first principles of the gospel explained about 1 May, 1841 by Elders John and Willliam Frodsham who were laboring in St. Helens, Lancashire, England. Quoting from his diary he says, "I was not baptized until 2 August, 1846, at about 8 o'clock in the morning in the river Are near Leeds, because there was no opportunity to do so earlier. I was confirmed the same day, both the baptism and the confirmation being done by Elder Charles Miller. My wife had also been touched by the message of the gospel and she was baptized 23 September, 1846, by Elder Miller and was confirmed by Elder Isaac Riddle the same day." Again quoting grom his diary, "When Apostle John Taylor visited us in December of the same year, 1846, he advised us to be re-baptized and we both heeded his council and were again baptized by Elder Miller and confirmed by Apostle John Taylor."

"...set sail for America from Liverpool, England, 7 Sep, 1848, in the ship "Erin's Queen,' in company with two hundred thirty-two Saints under the direction of Simeon Carter, and were bound for New Orleans."

http://www.cityofenoch.org/old_enoch_johnson_fort.htm

The fort was 10 rods (165 feet) square and the walls were made of mud. The bottom of the wall was 2 2 feet thick, the top was 18 inches thick and nine feet tall. Five adobe rooms were built in a row on the west side of the fort. The fort wall answered for the outside wall of the room. A two-story dwelling was built in the southwest corner of the fort. All windows and doors were on the inside walls of the rooms. A large two-story building was built in the southeast corner of the fort with portholes to be used in defense. This building was called the Bastion or Basties. The building was large enough so all living in the fort could gather there for protection. Sheds and corrals were built on the east side of the fort. On the west and north sides were built a grainery, blacksmith shop and chicken coop. All of these buildings mentioned were, even to the corral, built inside the fort. On the north side of the fort was a big high gate made of large logs. On the south side was an opening about 6 feet high and 4 feet wide for people to go in and out. This led to the ditch of water that ran by the south side. These two openings were the only ones in the fort. A well was dug in the center, and this was used for drinking and sometimes culinary purposes. On the outside of the Fort, on the west side, an apple orchard was planted and a space reserved for vegetable gardens was there. Another orchard was planted on the east side. These orchards were planted by the men who built the fort. No better variety of apples was grown anywhere than these two orchards produced. On the south side of the Fort was a farm which was irrigated by water from the Springs in the meadow in the east. On the north were many acres of good pasture land. Cottonwood trees were planted on the south, east, and west sides of the fort.

During the year 1869, John P. Jones and sons moved from the fort and purchased land and springs on the east bench of the community. John P. Jones, who was an iron worker, built a blast furnace and coke oven and melted iron and molded fire grates, dog irons, cogwheels, and even a 500 pound hammer to drive the piles for irrigation dams being constructed in southern Utah. The blast furnace did not use iron ore, but used scrap iron in its operation. The blast furnace was made from the boiler of an old railroad steam engine. This was the first blast furnace west of the Mississippi River.

In 1891, John P. Jones was succeeded as Presiding Elder by Jos. H. Armstrong and he was followed by Sylvester F. Jones in 1900. He presided until August 18, 1912, when the Enoch branch was organized into a ward, with Charles E. Jones as Bishop, William Matheson as 1st Counselor and Carlos Stevens as 2nd Counselor. Hyrum P. Jones was ward (clerk). Later Owen Matheson was made 2nd Counselor and Eldon Jones ward clerk. (The ward had been a branch of the Cedar Ward.)

The Post Office was established in 1890, with John L. Jones as the first postmaster, Hyrum Jones was second post master. He was followed by Charles E. Jones, he by Jane Rogerson, then Millard Halterman and Viola Armstrong, and Charles E. Jones was post master again. In 1927, the Post Office was taken away and rural free delivery was established. At first three times a week until January, 1950, when it was made a daily service.

Relief Society was organized with Margaret Lee Jones President.

from: John Pidding Jones, His Ancestors and Descendants

Jacky,
My name is Larry Jones. I found your web site after doing an internet search on the name "John Pidding Jones". I'm a great-great-great grandson of his.

For some time now I've been working to make an electronic version of the 580 page "John Pidding Jones, His Ancestors and Descendants" book. I scanned the entire book and converted it to PDF format. The free Adobe Acrobat Reader program is used to view the PDF file.

I gained a real appreciation for our ancestors and relatives after reading their stories. For some time I've felt a pressing need to make the book more widely available.

I've decided that I'll make copies of the book available on CD for $5 each. That will help cover the cost of CD burning and shipping. People can order as many as they want or can order one and burn other copies for themselves or other family members. I may be able to eventually make the book available for download on the internet but that won't be ready for a while. The PDF file is almost 18MB so it's kind of large for most people to download. I'd appreciate any help in spreading the word about the book being available if you know of any relatives who would be interested.

If you're interested, you can order a copy from:
