Modbury and the Military

 

In the Parish Registers of Modbury, because Modbury was a 'garrison' town with a large Barracks, there are quite a number of entries that have a note such as ‘a soldier’ or ‘a soldier’s child’. In a number of cases, however, the Regiment is also recorded and we list those below:
